Meet Our Co-Founder: Dr. Nhat Nguyen
International Women’s Day is a day of celebration to honor the worldwide social, economic, political and cultural contributions of women. The vision for this special day is that collectively people, businesses and other organizations can make a difference within their sphere of influence, working together to promote and support women’s empowerment. It’s a day to celebrate women who envision, innovate and achieve.
On this very special day, we would like to spotlight GLACYO’s own co-founder, Dr. Nhat Nguyen.
International Women’s Day 2021 theme is #choosetochallenge. “A challenged world is an alert world,” states the official IWD website. “Individually, we're all responsible for our own thoughts and actions - all day, every day.” GLACYO is a company that understands this concept. The brand’s products have been developed to help skincare lovers to live artfully, live with intention and Dr. Nguyen is a passionate advocate who truly embodies this philosophy.
“Life is short so I try to live each and every day as fully as I can,” she said. “The most important thing is to stay true and authentic to yourself and others. Celebrate life, follow your dreams, and raise your voice for things that you believe in no matter what your background, gender, or race is.”
Dr. Nguyen grew up in a small town in the southernmost of Vietnam and her childhood dream was to become a scientist who could bring positive changes to the world. A brilliant chemist, Dr. Nguyen studied chemical engineering at Carnegie Mellon University and at The University of California at Berkeley. She completed her Doctorate of Philosophy in Clinical Medicine at Oxford University and currently works at the Department of Biology at Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Nguyen also formulates all of GLACYO’s game-changing products.
“I love researching ingredients for skincare. I go with natural ingredients that have been traditionally used by many generations,” Dr. Nguyen said. “Each country that I have travelled to would have their own unique stories and secrets to keep their beautiful, glowing skin. I also stay very updated with the newest innovations in the industry and find ways to bring them together to create high-performing and safe products” As a conscious consumer, Dr. Nguyen understands that many skincare brands out there are not as safe, as effective or even as environmentally-friendly as they claim and is committed to changing that with GLACYO’s science-backed products.
Outside of the lab, Dr Nguyen enjoys spending time with her husband, two little children and family dog, Frankie. She’s a strong believer in a healthy lifestyle to keep her skin youthful, practicing daily exercise, healthy diet, hydration, quality sleep, using clean products, and living intentionally. “It’s a way of life,” she explained. “There's no single product that transforms your skin overnight. It must be a holistic approach.”
